We're pregnant!

Hello family and friends all over the world.  For the past two weeks the temperature has been fluctuating around zero in London, one of the warmer places in the UK at the moment.  But Jon and I have had a lot of warmth in our hearts since the end of September because we are pregnant, 12.5 weeks along!  Earlier this afternoon we had our first scan (pictures to follow) and it was amazing to see this teeny tiny Todd doing acrobatics in my womb. The scan results were all normal, everything is as it should be.  TTT is 6cm long.  We orginally thought the birth date was 1 July, this has now been brought forward to 29 June.  Please use the poll in the left-hand sidebar to let us know which of these or other dates you think it will be!

Jon is glowing. I am at least feeling better than I was three weeks ago.  Traditional first trimester symptoms like nauseau, cramps, emotionality have waned.  The incommodious squeezed bladder is here to stay.   No food cravings yet however Jon has been good enough to indulge my hankering to go on long walks through arctic habitats, like Peckham Rye Park below.

We're looking forward to temperatures rising and everything else that the coming months will bring.  TTT is more than a twinkle in our eyes now ... join us on the journey to June (or will it be July?)!

  1. Your scan pictures are so clear! I had my 4D scan on Sunday, I'll show you the DVD when I see you at Xmas (if I ever get to Cumbria). It was pricey but so so worth it.
Glad to hear you're feeling well. The second trimester is fun......third is maybe not quite as much fun! Although feeling baby kicking around and doing somersaults is pretty cool. I'm sure that seeing your tummy move will freak Jon out totally (Kieran finds it very strange).
And then the naming "discussions" begin....!!

  2. Monica and Jon!
We are soooooo thrilled for you two... ENJOY every second of your pregnancy and be sure to share your growing tummy on your blog. I want to see you really pregnant...like you saw me at Kristen's wedding- HA! So does this mean any near future trips to the states are postponed?!?! We just might have to make a trip there- hmmmm. Take care, YOU THREE! And Merry Christmas! xoxox, Kara, Bri, and Reid

  4. I still maintain Alexander Hamilton Todd will be born on July 4 as patriotically befitting. (Jon, the name is a good one honoring your interest in economics.)

My guess is it's a boy since he has your belly.

  5. Thanks everyone!

Katie, a 4D scan! I can’t even begin to comprehend that – what is the fourth dimension?! Am glad you didn’t travel back on Monday, wouldn’t want you to get stuck on the motorway. Yes but I too hope we are able to make it up to Cumrbia for xmas! Hopefully the trains will be back to normal on Friday ... knock on wood!

Kara, I feel so big already! In fact I was sure we were going to have twins. Jon and I will be home for three weeks at Easter. Hope to see you a few times then! But if you want to come this way before then you’re more than welcome. After all, why not take advantage of the free seat for Reid while he’s still under two!

Another Gemini is right Al, you are too funny. Will do my best to live up to your standard of photography. Wish you were here so you could take some proper ones!

Dad we were just discussing “Jefferson Todd” last night! Will have to let that simmer for a while though ... I have to go feed the Buddha now x

  10. Hello Jonathan and Monica - The scan looks really clear. I am going to be more scientific with my predictions -the midwives tell me that the first scan is usually the most acurate expected date which is 29th June - so I predict you wioo go over your edd by six days which wioo bring you to 5th Jult. The sex of the baby is 50/50, so, at this stage - will predict the baby ia boy. Anne
